Hoarder ALERT

Ah man. Long weekend! I took some time today to actually clean out my shelves and closet. Without a doubt I am a HOARDER.COM. I've decided to spring clean and throw away half my clothes.

I was so frustrated the other day because I couldn't find anything to wear and then for days I became so lazy just wearing the first thing on my piles of clothes. Alas enough is enough. the great clean shall begin.

Upon my journey of cleaning I got a tad distracted wow. (I blame my a.d.d. haha). I found so much STUFF at the back of my cupboards, including my stack of journals.

Talk about a flash back to the past, reading through every thought and feeling when I was a teen and them moving into adulthood. Funny how life changes, funny how seasons come and go. Things are so different, new friends old friends, the ups and downs, the girly bits, the family struggles and most of all reflection on my journey with God through the years.

Memories, hand written, something no-one can give back to you. Now thats one thing I can hoard ;)

Good is the enemy of Great

I wise friend of mine said...We shall call her Yoda
"We need to realize what is good for us and what is not good"

So I came up with a theory for my day, call it my WEDNESDAY theory if you will. Sometimes in life we may like the feel of something or enjoy having something or someone in our lives but that does not mean it is a good thing, and realizing that we need to get rid of it maybe the hardest thing ever.

I feel the need to take it a step futher though, the thing in our lives may even be good and make us happy, but in the long term is it great?
There you have it, good is the enemy of great, why settle for something good when you can have something great! But in order to have great you have to let go of the good. Let go and let live, it kind of makes sense, why should we settle for being just 'good' at certain things when we can take the time and be great at it. Or the same goes for other things, why have good things surround you in you life when you can have great things.

Heres to GREAT things! Hi five

Capped and graduated 2012

With Graduation behind me I now look forward for what is to come. I think I am seriously going to miss my uni years, it was the best years of my life! When you are a teenager I often watched movies seeing those old people in hogwarts suits jumps in the air throwing their grad caps in the air, and now I got to do it. (To be very honest it was a bit of an anit climax...haha but ey thats just me) So My three year degree is done, I will always remember the 23rd of April 2012 as a milestone in my life. I am now a postgrad! Cant believe half the year is nearly done, crazy times! thats means half way through honours...
So what do do with the rest of my years?
Who knows, I would like to travel, work overseas, do music, and well then eventually get married and settle down..(but there is pleny of time for that)
One thing I do know is that 2013, I want to take a serious leap of faith and do something crazy, no more studying, maybe a short vacation job overseas or studio time doing music? If not why not;)

The texting game.

What is it about people being BAD at replying to an sms. I'm sorry to say but Males are mostly to blame in this situation...you get the occational girl who is busy but then she still replies with an apology.

Boys boys boys, why is it that you can read a message but then you can just ignore the questions and 'forget to reply' really? Is life that busy that you cant take 30 seconds to type a reply.

In doing some research on what males have to say for themselves I found out the follwing,
"we are busy and can only think of one thing at a time"
"we want to reply properly later so we dont reply and then forget"
"I just forgot"
"males dont care"
" if we busy and dont reply it means you are just not important"
"whats the big deal"

The fact of the matter, NO PERSON is too busy to reply, if it means something to you, you will DO something about it. Well then my answers come clear,..there is obviously not high state of care and importance haha! well such is life...I guess males will never understand a womans brain. I myself had to learn with a few of my male friends that communcation is soemthing left to be desired.

The worst...ah I could slap someone and make a sign I was so angry. Is when you send a text, they reply straight away with lotsa of questions, you reply back..thinking 'cool we going to have a conversation', you ask some questions as well..,.and then...nothing. No reply, no later apology, just nothing.

haha should I be worried that the guy had a stroke? should I be worried that he just got mugged and had to stop replying? funny quote: "he was just so overwhelmed that he fainted and couldnt reply"

What makes the man just stop replying during a text converation? Or are text conversations just too much to handle?

I havn't totally figured it out yet ;) ah man, lifes to short to worry about such things, but that certanily means it doesnt bug me any less. Vent for the day over... I can now move on!

wohooo Graduation day for me... last post as an undergrad!

It's what girls do...

Weekend is nearly over and what a top weekend it was. Spending some quality time with some top ladies, some old and some new.

So lastnight I got invited to a 21st, but i didnt know anyone going. nevertheless I went and find myself chilling with three girls and before we knew it we were tight?
Why? well what can all girls relate and bond over? yup BOY talk haha.

Theres something about sharing about what is happening in your own life drama with other girls that create a sense of trust and a bond like no other. Leaving the party early we even went back to one of their flats to contine our lady like chat!

Over some tea and some great laughs, we bonded and got to know each other through the stories of our past relationships, state of singleness, loss during breakups and new found flames or potential. Girls love communcatiuon and self disclosure, we could go on all night. what is the best is finding similarities between each other stories and having those 'ahaa' moments and saying 'I feel you, I went through the same thing'. Amazingness.

I always wonder do boys ever have such chats? well one thing is for certain, sharing is caring and finding new friends is defenitly a treasure found in Port Elizabeth.

A bit about me and my life of worship

A lot of my life has to do with music so I thought why not make it a metaphor for life.Often I will hear songs and one will stick out to me for a certian season of my life. Ever happen to you? when you just can sing along and say 'this ong was made FOR me! People don't realize the power music has on them, music has a direct link to our emotions and can change our mood or enhance the mood we are already in.

A song is intricate and music is technical. So much emotions go into song writing or putting together a composed piece of music. I guess tu could say the same thing goes with our lives, from afar we are perceived as a certian type of person, by our looks, our jobs, what we do or even by our facebook pages. But often its the intricate detail that we miss out on, it is this intricate detail that make us so different.

In the line of music I would say, as a little girl I always dreamed of singign for people and standing on a stage, for my teeny bopper birthdays I always remember singing along to S club 7 or Britney. Truth be told I was pretty terrible at it and my fear of messing up held me back from performing as a kid. It was only in matric that I started singing, firstly for my church as a back up singer for our youth. From there I guess we can say 'the rest was history'. I believe I didn't go searching for music, music found me within worship. A huge part of who I am today is because of what I discovered through my years of becoming a singer or worship leader. More than just a song on a page I found meaning behind lyrics and a motive behind every note played, every harmony sung.

The little 5 year old girl who had dreams of singing finally came true in my varisty years where I was given various opportunties to lead my worship team infront of hundreds people at local city events. Music became my passion and there is always something more to learn. It's been a rollercoaster ride but a fun one at that. Who knows what the future will bring, so many times I think to myself, maybe I should quit my day job and see where my music can get me. Alas risky moves have never been my forte, I do however want to strive to do some cd recording by the time I turn 23.

So lets see what the future holds....

Yo Buddy!

So this morning at the office, me and my collegue were having a conversation about the name 'BUD'. In America this name is pretty common, however in South Africa, our city P.E. in partcular the word bud has really become an overused way of calling a 'friend'.
"Hey my bud"
"Hello buddy"
"You such a bud"
"how are you bud?"

I myself love the term 'bud', and used it without even thinking what the meaning behind it was. In a sudden urge to find it's meaning I searched google and to my dismay I found there wasn't much on the origin of 'where' or 'how' the slang usuage of the word 'bud' came from.  It just says bud is another word used for friend. But where did this come from, did it perhaps come from the word 'budget' or the beer Budweizer or hmm maybe a budgy bird?

My friend's theory goes something like this... so if youre close enough to share your budget you must be a 'bud'.

I know alot of my friends that moved here recently said they had to get use to the fact that we call everyone 'bud'. Why not just say, my friend or my pal? In my opinion the term bud means you are not only a good friend but a close and comfortable person to me. You can't go calling somwone you just met or someone you simply work with a bud.

Another use of this term which I found interesting was the use of the term 'bud' to define the type of friendship you have with a guy or if you are a guy with a girl. One way to make sure the other person knows you are JUST friends is by stating that you are buddies, he's my bud.

Well buddy or not. The use of this word sparked some ineterest for my day.
